The Mean Green Classic continued for Utah Valley with the second match, taking place Saturday at noon where the Mighty Wolverines played Abilene Christian University. The game took four sets to decide in UVU favor with scores of 25-9, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17

UVU plainly dominated during the first set as McKenna Tait sparked the never-ending set rally with three service aces that brought out a quick 8-0 lead. Abilene couldn’t buy a point as the Wolverines continually extended their advantage and ultimately ended the set with a 25-9 victory.

The overpowering win in the first set for the Wolverines didn’t sit well with Abilene as they came back with something to prove. The Wildcats hit the court hard as they battled the score back and forth keeping it tight throughout the entire set. Stephanie Schoelman secured the set for ACU with a couple of late crucial kills. The Wildcat set win tied the match.

Coming off their win from the night before and their early match victory UVU came to the third set ready to mark it down as another win. The set was mostly uneventful as each team worked their way, almost evenly, up to a 24-20 Wolverine advantage. Right then ACU reeled off four straight points to bring the frame to a 24-all tie. Tait once again rallied the team with a clutch service ace. The Wolverines put the set away with the very next point on a block assist from Cassie Wahlin and McKenzie Schenk.

The last set remained tight as the Wildcats battled for their last chance to get back in the match. UVU used a 9-1 run to take a 14-6 lead about halfway into the set. From there the lady Wolverines held their lead and went on the seal the victory of the set and subsequently the match.
