The Utah Valley cross-country team competed in the 34th annual UC Riverside Invitational this past Saturday, September 13. The Wolverines sported a sixth place finish with 173 points by the men and with 95 points the women took first place and the tournament title.

In order to take their spectacular win the lady Wolverines finished ahead of UC Santa Barbara (2nd, 113), host UC Riverside (3rd, 129), San Diego State (4th, 135), UC San Diego (5th 145), Southern Utah (6th, 187), and 17 other teams. The men claimed their sixth place by finishing behind Minnesota (1st, 43 points), SUU (2nd, 48), UCSB (3rd, 97), UCR (4th, 149), and UCSD (5th, 155). The men did finish ahead of 23 other squads.

There were three lady Wolverines who placed in the top 20 for the 6K race. Darian Sharp placed 12th with a time of 21:27.70, McKayla Morgan crossed the line in 14th with a time of 21:31.80, and Makayla Stepp posted a 19th finish with a time of 21:45.30.

The men finished their 8K race with no athletes in the top 20, but there are a few races to note. Redshirt freshman Tyson Lambert placed the highest out of the gentlemen Wolverines with a 23rd place finish (24:52.30). Trac Norris flowed close behind with 28th and a time of 24:55.10.

The Wolverine cross-country athletes will head to Las Vegas, Nevada for their next competition. There they will race in the UNLV Invitational on September 20.
