“Kael first off we want to thank you, and we want to thank your family for letting us as a team be able to become apart of your lives. We’re grateful for that opportunity for what you’ve done and the strength that you’ll show our guys,” said Madsen. “We’re looking forward and excited to what they’re going to be able to learn from you.”
“It’s my job you know what I mean, it’s my job as a forward to score goals,” said Frischknecht. “Last year I think I ended up with six and I was the leading scorer, so I didn’t think that was good enough for me.”
“We’re happy with the shutout, I thought we generated a lot of opportunities,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “To be honest I didn’t think we were disciplined enough in front of the goal, had opportunities that should be goals. That can come back and bite us unless we sharpen it up a little bit.”
One obvious thing we know is, Utah Valley men’s soccer senior forward Blake Frischknecht is really, really good at scoring goals. An example of what we don’t quite know is, after New Mexico State in volleyball, whose play is for real and whose is fake?
“The conditions for today’s match were exhaustive. 100 degree-plus temperatures, humidity, turf, all made this 1-0 result on the road even that much more impressive,” said UVU head coach Greg Maas to reporters. “Once we settled into the match we created a number of quality chances, and that could’ve made it easier on ourselves. That said, I was very proud of our team’s individual and collective defending. We were organized, balanced, and committed to not give anything away.”
The Wolverine offense would finally come alive in the 85th minute with a goal by freshman defender Jenna Shepherd, who was assisted by junior defender Cassidy McCormick. Before anyone on the pitch could even blink, Shepherd got the Wolverines on the board again, unassisted in the 87th minute.

“We’ve talked a lot about what we need to do, and it just came down to executing,” said Tarawhiti. “We all knew what our jobs were, but when it came to the third set, we all said, ‘It’s time for us to actually execute.’”
“We had a tremendous crowd tonight on homecoming for both the women’s game and the men’s game tonight,” said UVU men’s head coach Greg Maas. “I was really excited, obviously they gave us a lot of energy and our guys love to play here on Clyde Field in front of our Den.”
