Your Privacy Controls
This page explains the privacy controls available to you when using The UVU Review. We want to make it easy to understand and manage how your information is used.
For full details on our data practices, see our Privacy Policy.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
The UVU Review does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their independent marketing or advertising purposes.
We do not engage in targeted advertising based on personal profiles. Analytics data we collect is aggregated and not used to build individual profiles for commercial sale.
Because we do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising, the opt-out rights under the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) related to those activities are already satisfied by our current practices. However, you still have the rights described in Section 4 below.
Cookie Preferences
You can manage cookie preferences using your browser settings or a browser extension such as uBlock Origin. You may also contact us via our contact form to request information about what cookies are set.
Cookie Categories We Use
- Strictly Necessary: Essential for the Site to function (login sessions, security nonces). Cannot be disabled.
- Functional: Remember your preferences (dark/light mode, comment name). Disabling may affect some features.
- Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized traffic data used to improve the Site. No personal profiles are built. You may opt out without affecting site functionality.
We do not use advertising, tracking, or cross-site profiling cookies.
How to Opt Out of Analytics
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on;
- Enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings (we honor this signal where technically feasible);
- Use a privacy-focused browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts.
Utah Consumer Privacy Act Rights
If you are a resident of Utah, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (effective December 31, 2023) grants you the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Know & Access: Request confirmation of whether we process your personal data and receive a copy of that data.
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal data you have provided to us, subject to legal and journalistic exemptions.
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your personal data in a portable, commonly used format.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale: Opt out of the sale of your personal data. (We do not sell personal data.)
- Right to Opt Out of Targeted Advertising: Opt out of the processing of your personal data for targeted advertising. (We do not conduct targeted advertising.)
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights — you will not be denied services, charged different prices, or provided a different level of service.
Response time: We will respond to verified requests within 45 days. If we need additional time (up to 45 more days), we will notify you in writing.

Note: Deleting your account does not automatically remove comments you have posted. If you would also like comments removed, please specify this in your request.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. We honor DNT signals by not enabling analytics tracking for users whose browsers indicate this preference, where technically feasible.
Children Under 13
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us via our contact form and we will promptly delete it.
