The Utah Valley women’s soccer 2008 season, it’s most successful ever at the NCAA level, ended with a tough 1-0 loss at Longwood in the United Soccer Conference Championship game on Monday night. Despite the loss in the final, the 2008 Wolverines will go down as the winningest team in the school’s six-year NCAA history.
Last Tuesday the women’s volleyball team swept Seattle University — the first time these two teams have met. When the game got close, the Wolverines played solid, not letting SU believe they could win a set, crushing any hopes of winning. Anytime SU cooked up a good streak UVU’s defense came up big to stop the attack.
In the first ever World Series delayed by rain, there is no wonder that the game ended a quarter-century championship drought in the city of brotherly love. The Philadelphia Phillies won their first World Series since 1980 over the Tampa Bay Rays and brought the city of Philadelphia its first championship since 1983, when the 76ers won an NBA title.

With some seniors ready to play their final season as Wolverines, some returning sophomores and juniors and a few freshmen, the women’s basketball team is ready to show what they can do. As a team their goal will be about what they can achieve this season.
