To the Editor: I am disappointed to learn that the Utah State Board of Regents has selected BYU poli-sci associate professor Matthew Holland – son of the current Mormon apostle, who was the president of BYU. When does the separation of church and state cease to exist and nepotism and cronyism begin to flourish which might render the Utah Valley experience for non-Mormon students displeasing to the point of feeling unwelcome? Dr.

Cutler Demands Trade Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler of the Denver Broncos has asked to be traded. Cutler was upset because the Broncos were willing to trade him in order to acquire Matt Cassel, and when that trade fell through there was still bad blood. Cutler refused to show up for the first team meeting of the year and hopes to never have to show up again.

I am offended by something that matters . . . Johnny Poole. To the Editor: In a recent article in the UVU Review, Johnny Poole wrote a ridiculous editorial about Utah drivers and Mormon art. As I read through the article, I had a bad taste in my mouth for Poole’s sense of humor and negativity for Utah and the people who live here.

L.T. stays in San Diego LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers successfully renegotiated a contract which will keep L.T. in a Chargers uniform. Not only does the new deal keep L.T. but it also gives the team some salary cap relief. Tomlinson was the 2006 NFL MVP but the past two years have been filled with injury problems and his productivity has been down.

To the Editor: David Newlin’s March 2 editorial regarding a funding request by the Wee Care Center to student government contains information that I wish to clarify in order to avoid any misunderstanding. In Mr. Newlin’s opening statement, he indicated that there was a “problem with the grant” that funds Wee Care.
