Johanne Frechette Perry gives a wonderful performance at the Covey center’s little Blackbox theatre. This tiny woman has a mighty range of emotions and the ability to hold the audience captivated with her brilliant performance from start to finish. Surprisingly, this true story was written by Perry’s husband Steven Kapp Perry.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

The UVU Outdoor Adventure Center will host the world renowned Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour this week, with feature films at the Ragan Theater. Named for Banff, Canada’s oldest national park, the Banff Mountain Film Festival features some of the best documentary footage on mountain subjects in the world.

Wolverines earn tough win over Weber State

Three of UVU’s top players shelled out double-digit points Tuesday to get a win over Weber State. It wasn’t an easy win for the Wolverines but they did the job and put the points on the board that they needed. Sandy Wall, Robyn Fairbanks and Julie McMurray put together a total of 63 points for their 81-73 win.

Beckham hopes to make AC Milan permanent David Beckham is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy but is on loan to AC Milan. However, Beckham is enjoying his time in Italy so much that he wants to stay with AC Milan permanently. Milan’s vice president said he is willing to pay a fee in order to keep Beckham.

Flash look to make run as season winds down

At Utah Valley University, many may not know that there is a semi-pro basketball team playing at the McKay Events Center. The Utah Flash is a developmental basketball team whose NBA affiliates are the Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics. After 22 games in their season, the Utah Flash are 13-9 and sitting in third place in the Western Division behind the Bakersfield Jam and the first place Idaho Stampede.

Injury bug deflating Jazz playoff hopes

With Deron Williams sidelined by a sprained ankle, the Utah Jazz got off to a modest start this season. When Carlos Boozer landed awkwardly on his left knee, fans began to worry, and now that Andrei Kirilenko has been sidelined with injury, the season appears to be lost.

UVU to Host First Ever GWC Basketball Championships Utah Valley University was selected to host the first combined men’s and women’s Great West Conference Basketball Tournament, to be held March 10-13, 2010 at the 8,500-seat McKay Center, the league office announce Thursday.

Kjar a perfect fit at UVU

Heavily recruited Ben Kjar is a perfect fit for UVU. Kjar, a sophomore from Centerville, sees wrestling strictly as a team sport, though he excels alone as an All-American. He started taking wrestling seriously when wrestling coach Greg Williams began training him.

Olsen returns to lead UVU over Savannah State

Utah Valley guard Josh Olsen, who has been sidelined with a sprained ankle, made his first start since the injury and led the Wolverines to a runaway 55-39 win over Savannah State. With UVU’s leading scorer Ryan Toolson held in check with only five points, Olsen made it his duty to put the ball in the hole as he picked up the slack with 15 points to go along with four assists.
