Women’s Golf Claims 2nd at Blue Lakes Invitational

Utah Valley finished in second place at the 36-hole Blue Lakes Invitational after the two rounds Monday. The Twin Falls tournament was hosted by Weber State who ended with the title for the one day event.

Weber State had a final score of 615 (+39), UVU’s second place was earned with 614 (+65), while Idaho State rounded out the field in third with a score total of 696 (+120).

The Wolverines were represented by five female athletes to make the top 20 players in the tournament. Cassandra Lesa lead the team by tying for fourth with a score of 158. Hannah Herman came next for UVU by placing sixth (160) and was followed by Heather Mathison in eighth place with a 163. The Wolverine’s line up was rounded out by Kimberly Nyhus (165) and Monica Yeates (168) taking tenth and eleventh respectively.

On the individual side of the tournament Weber State’s Emily Podlesny and Kristie Jensen tied for the individual medalist honors with scores of 152. UVU wasn’t represented in this section of the tournament.

Women’s golf’s next event takes place on October 6-8 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The lady Wolverines will be competing in New Mexico State’s Prices Give ‘Em Five Classic.
