The University of Wyoming won in straight sets against Utah Valley University today. The game took place in front of a full house in Evanston giving the COwgirl’s victory a sweeter taste to the team. The final score was 25-14, 25-13, 25-20.

The lady Wolverines stayed right with the Cowgirls for the first half of the opening set. Yet UVU’s 12-13 advantage didn’t live long past midway through the frame. Feeding off the energy from the packed crowd Wyoming pulled it together with a 13-1 run to take the opening set.

The Cowgirls kept their momentum by picking up right were they left off by taking an early lead. The 9-1 advantage proved to be to much for Utah Valley. The Wolverines couldn’t muster a strong rally for the back half of the second set enabling Wyoming’s 12 point win.

The intermission looked to be all UVU needed as they took an early lead of 9-4 in the third set. Lauren Bakker was on fire as she gave the Wolverines a trio of kills and a block. Striking back quickly the Cowgirls brought the score to a tie at 16-all. Wyoming kept control of the set from there as they finished off the match.

The lady Wolverines head back to Utah County to take part in the BYU Invitational this weekend. Their first game of the Invite. will be on Friday, September 5th at 4:00 p.m. MT as they take on UMBC.
