NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After helping UVU to wins at then-No. 11 Arizona State and Saint Mary’s last week, Jordy Hart and Josh Swenson were honored by the Great West Conference. Hart was named the league’s Player of the Week with Swenson sharing Pitcher of the Week honors with Jonathan Sa of Texas-Pan American.

Hart earns the award after he batted .750 (6-for-8) with three triples and five RBIs over four games. The outfielder tripled home the first three runs of the game in the second inning in the upset win at ASU. He then tripled and scored with two on in the sixth in the same game.

Swenson posted two clutch saves last week in the wins over Arizona State and at Saint Mary’s. The right-handed hurler threw 6.2 innings of scoreless relief. He scattered two hits and allowed batters to hit just .130 against him. Swenson tossed the final 3.2 innings in Utah Valley’s huge road win over ASU and threw the final three innings, allowing just one hit, in the win at Saint Mary’s.

Sa helped Texas-Pan American defeat then-No. 8 Texas A&M last week to earn a share of the pitching award. Both UVU and UTPA defeated their ranked opponents on the same night.
