Ethics Fellow to Publish Book on Research

Ethics Fellow Dr. Ruhul H. Kuddus has proposed a book which will present the findings of his research and explain how the different research he will do is interconnected. Kuddus is the newest UVU professor to receive the position as the University Faculty Fellow in Ethics and has received a $7,000 grant in the hopes that his publication will contribute to the UVU community and ethical world research.

How to spot a cop and avoid a ticket

Traffic tickets are a multi-billion industry. Often, tickets have little to do with highway safety, but everything to do with money. Police officers are often given ticket quotas and rated based on whether they meet this quota. Also, traffic courts that are supposedly fair and unbiased rely on the funds that we pay in traffic tickets in order to function.

GEAR UP student to attend Oxbridge Academic Program

Sophomore at East High School and participant in Utah’s statewide federally funded GEAR UP Education Program, Nia Jamshidi has been accepted to the Oxbridge Academic Program at Oxford and Cambridge. In addition to her acceptance, she was awarded a $3,500 scholarship to help pay tuition for this summer’s program.

Simulated campus attack practice

Local SWAT teams, fire and police departments, and medical evacuation teams by land and air rushed UVU campus on June 14; dodging the explosives and smoke to disarm 12 gunmen holding hostages during a mass-scale training exercise. “The officers that responded into the campus buildings reacted better than anticipated,” said Detective Kelly Liddiard of the UVU Police Department, “[They] took control and neutralized any threats that they came across faster and better than we as the planning team expected.
