The Green Arrow is explaining to his girlfriend, the Black Canary, why he must stay behind and sacrifice his life to save some survivors of the latest threat to all life in the universe: Anti-Life. “I can’t lose you,” she breathes, raising her hand to the glass window.
Richard Horsley runs Pioneer Book in Provo, which has bought and sold books for almost 30 years. The store has an extensive collection of used books, including college textbooks. How did Pioneer Book start? It started in September of 1980, so it will be 30 years here pretty soon.
As summer winds down, each student should ask them self one question: “have I done anything fun this summer?” If the answer is “no,” this list will provide you with many opportunities to get in that last bit of entertainment before the new semester begins.
Living in Utah and not visiting the Utah Shakespearean Festival is comparable to living here and never seeing Zion or the Great Salt Lake. The caliber of theater produced there is not only rare for Utah, but for most states. The Festival, now in its 48th season, produces six full-length plays and two pre-show acts which open in the summer, followed by three plays in the fall.
Collin Raye and Restless Heart, two of Utah’s favorite visiting country acts, will share the stage together at the SCERA Shell Amphitheatre on July 24th. Their music has electrified audiences around the world for 25 years. Booth groups have earned their place in country music history with their countless hits.
On July 28, the World Folkfest begins again and the turnout this summer is anticipated to be stronger than it has been for the past five years. Because of airline and other travel restrictions and increasing costs since the tragedy of 9-11, the Folkfest has had issues with drawing the international community.

Surrounding him, witches and wizards of all ages mingled with muggles at a midnight release for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Ah, the summer road trip. The essence of youthful spontaneity, adventure and insanity all rolled into one. While there are some tips here that might be considered no-brainers, they’re still rather important. And hopefully, with a few dozen road trips under my belt, I can offer some advice on things you may not have thought of.

Few, however, have been able to adequately bring back one of Asia’s timeless and most insightful classics: the Tao Te Ching (Dow Day Jay-ing, or Jing). Henry V This year, Henry V is the Festival’s standout production. The story is portrayed with a rare honest humility. The themes of conflict, leadership, and warfare are explored thoroughly and with an uncluttered sense of purpose. Henry V is the story of the English king’s invasion of France.
A whistle gathered the athletics department staff for the announcement years in the making – that of the notification from NCAA officials informing UVU Director of Athletics Mike Jacobsen of the unanimous approval to lift UVU from provisional status to full-fledged membership.
UVU sociology major Aaron Wood has recently returned from a two-week delegation to Israel and Palestine during which he spoke with both Israelis and Palestinians regarding the ongoing conflict. The delegation, co-sponsored by Interfaith Peace-Builders (IFPB) and the National Peace Foundation (NPF), gave 16 American students the opportunity to travel through the conflict zone during President Obama’s visit to discuss the halt of illegal Israeli settlement and the reintroduction of peace negotiations.
Director of the Center for Engaged Learning, Dr. Jack Christianson, is taking on additional responsibilities as he enters his new role of Special Assistant to the President of Engaged Learning, effective July 20. This new position will see his former responsibilities sustained and intensified with emphasis put on the development of new institutional strategies and external alliances.
James H. Davis, Ph.D., visited the school July 6-9 to collaborate on a business ethics research project and to assist in developing strategic objectives for the University’s Entrepreneurship Institute. Davis is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame where he teaches courses in strategic planning, change management, entrepreneurship and international management.
Bruce L. Christensen and David P. Yells have been selected as deans for the 2009-2010 academic year. When UVU attained University status the School of Humanities and the school of Arts and Social Sciences split into two distinct Academic bodies. Bruce Christensen has accepted a one-year appointment as Interim Dean of the School of the Arts and will bring a wealth of experience as he spent seven years as dean of Brigham Young University’s College of Fine Arts.
