The sci-fi odyssey Dune, based on the novel by Frank Herbert, has garnered acclaim from respected critics and nerds alike since its release in 1984. Whether the success is because of a groundbreaking score by Brian Eno and the band Toto (seriously), the cult following for anything director David Lynch does, or the overall brilliance of the story itself, Dune is a film that should be watched by everyone at least twice a year and on birthdays.

For the first time in the institution’s history, UVU men’s soccer represented the university in the best league in Utah. Moreover, they successfully accomplished the daunting task of beating the best team in the premier league, Olympique Montreux 3-1 at home, hence creating history and encouraging a lot of attention from all over by being the only team to cause such a major upset.

Intramural flag football team dominates national tournament

November 17, 2008 Reed Noble 0

UVU’s flag football team won the Region VI Tournament in Tempe, AZ, which was held Nov. 7-8. This marks the Wolverines third regional championship in the last 5 years. They went into the tournament as the number one seed and won every game going 6-0. Not only did they win every game, they also worked every opponent through the “mercy” rule, which is a rule that ends the game early if a team is ahead by more than 20 points.

November 17, 2008 Matt Beaudin 0

Even with the opening of a new Cinemark movie theater at the University Mall and the rowdy nightlife Utah County has to offer, the best bet for entertainment could be right inside the McKay Center at UVU. With the men’s and women’s basketball seasons now underway, you can see the performance of a lifetime as Ryan Toolson and Robyn Fairbanks take the floor for their respective teams.
