Utah Valley played a determined game against Lipscomb to end  Kansas Invitational today. The Wolverines battled hard but still end in a loss to the Bisons who were recently picked to win the Atlantic Sun Conference in the league’s preseason and have made four NCAA Tournament apperances in teh past six years. The final scored ended up as 23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-52 making Lipsomb win a 3-1.

The Bisons’ Molly Spitznagle started the game off with back-to-back kills, but did not deter the Wolverines as UVU took the lead 7-9 and held it until an attack error. LU took advantage of the error and the set came to a tie at 16-16. After bouncing the score back and forth with LU leading more then not it only took a kill from Sophie Kellerman to end the set in LU’s favor.

In the second set UVU used a 5-0 spurt to take an early lead that LU had a hard time battling. Kalani Norris triggered the rally for the Wolverines with a pari of aces. The lady Bisons tried to start a rally of their own successfully bringing the score to a tie at 11-all. After volleying the score for the rest of the set it was an error by Lipscomb and a kill by Cassie Wahlin that gave UVU the win.

After the match break the lady Bisons never trailed again answering back in the third and forth sets. UVU tried to keep their momentum but couldn’t catch up to LU after they took the lead from the get go in both sets.

The lady Wolverines take the court for their next match Monday, September 1st at 4:00 p.m. MT. They face off against Wyoming in Evanston, Wyoming.
