Griffey to remain in Seattle
Future Hall-of-Famer Ken Griffey Jr. has signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Mariners that will keep him in the Emerald City through 2010. Next season will be Griffey’s twenty-second season in Major League Baseball, the majority of that time spent with the Mariners. The contract is similar to the one he signed in 2009, paying him a base salary of $2 million with the potential to earn him $3.15 million plus incentives. He spent his first 11 seasons with the Mariners and then endured a nine year span with the Cincinnati Reds. He returned last season to Seattle where he will likely finish his career.
Quinn gets second chance
After a miserable start to the 2009-10 NFL season the Cleveland Browns find themselves right where they began. Brady Quinn, who started the season but was replaced by Derek Anderson after just two games, will be given a second chance to start. Since replacing Quinn as the starter, Anderson has posted the lowest passer rating in the league. The Cleveland offense is so stagnant that even the New Orleans Saints defense has scored more points this season.
