Las Vegas, NV – Lucas Cawley scored a golden goal on a bicycle kick in overtime and helped Utah Valley University defeat the University of Pacific 2-1 on Friday afternoon in Las Vegas.

It is the third straight win away from Clyde Field for the Wolverines and they are now 2-0 in overtime games this season.

The UVU (3-0-0) men’s soccer team continued their undefeated streak in spectacular fashion against the winless Tigers (0-3-0).

In the first half the Wolverines dominated as they attempted nine shots and scored one goal while holding Pacific to only one shot and no goals.

In the second half Pacific showed more life and put more pressure on the Wolverine defense by taking 10 shots compared to UVU’s six.

Thomas Loomis scored UVU’s first goal in the 41st minute on a shot that hit the left post from 18 yards out. That was the only score of the game until the 90th minute. Pacific’s Pac Riley hit a header into the far post off of a corner kick, tying the game at 1-1 with just 17 seconds to play and sending it into overtime.

In overtime, both teams played hard but in the end UVU won the match when Cawley scored the golden goal on a bicycle kick from five yards out with Skyler Milne picking up the assist. The goal came in the 97th minute and insured that UVU stayed undefeated.

UVU will play its next game on Sunday at 11:30 MT in Las Vegas against Saint Joseph (0-2-0).
