Checking account dispute
Nov. 16-An officer responded to a boyfriend and girlfriend yelling at each other. The dispute was involving a checking account. The girlfriend was on medication, which the boyfriend claimed was making her upset about everything. The two got on a bus and no further action was included in the report.
Faulty alarm
Nov. 17-Dispatch responded to a fire alarm going off. Upon arrival, the alarm had already been reset and nothing suspicious was seen in the area. The officer concluded that it must have been a faulty alarm and no further action was taken.
Unconscious woman
Nov. 17-An officer responded to a woman who had passed out. Paramedics checked her and found no injuries. She refused to be transported to a hospital and no further action was taken.
Stolen car
Nov. 17-A patrolling officer ran a license plate check on a car and found that it was reported stolen. Upon further investigation, the car had been reported as recovered but never removed from the system.
Smoking student
Nov. 18-An officer was called to the Computer Science Building after a student, who was smoking just outside the doors, refused to move the proper distance from the doors. The suspect had left by the time the officer arrived.
Stolen campus keys
Nov. 18-A UVU employee met with an officer in regard to keys that had allegedly been stolen out of a campus Kubota. The incident is currently under investigation.
Fleeing suspect
Nov. 18-Orem police contacted UVU officers to assist with apprehending a suspect of a possible car jacking who could be headed toward campus. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Suspicious package
Nov. 19-A student reported a suspicious package in the bench area near the library. The complainant said a backpack had been abandoned. Upon arrival, the officer noticed a student on the phone, pacing near the backpack. The officer confirmed that the backpack belonged to that student.
Public exposure
Nov. 19-An officer met with a student who reported that they had been sexually harassed. The complainant claimed a male had exposed himself in Parking Lot 10. Suspect information was obtained.
Trashcan collision
Nov. 20-Dispatch responded to a report of a trashcan that had been hit by a car. The officer found no damage done to the vehicle or the trashcan.
Sewer pipe hole
Nov. 20-A hole in a sewer pipe was found to be causing problems. Custodians were advised and no police action was taken.
Parked truck
Nov. 22-While on patrol, an officer pulled up to a truck parked alone after hours. The driver was contacted and told the officer everything was fine and that he was just thinking.
Trouble alarm
Nov. 22-An officer responded to the location of a trouble alarm. The area appeared to be clear and the officer was unable to reset the alarm. He left a message with the fire marshal and cleared the scene.
Shotgun round
Nov. 24-Dispatch responded to a parking lot after a report of an unexpended shotgun round on the ground. The officer found the shell in the lot and reported that it had been run over repeatedly. The officer took custody of the round and placed it into police evidence to be destroyed.
Slumped woman
Nov. 24-An officer responded to the visitor parking lot after a report of a woman in a white minivan, slumped over the steering wheel. The vehicle was not present upon the officer’s arrival.
Suspicious vehicle
Nov. 25-While on patrol, an officer noticed a suspicious vehicle pass by. The vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger were arrested on charges.
Sleeping man
Nov. 25-A man was reported sleeping in the Student Life and Wellness Center. An officer found the man on a couch on the second level. The man was escorted out of the building.
Broken window
Nov. 28-An officer responded to a case of a broken window. After investigation, the officer determined that temperature or air pressure changes broke the window
