“We’re happy with the shutout, I thought we generated a lot of opportunities,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “To be honest I didn’t think we were disciplined enough in front of the goal, had opportunities that should be goals. That can come back and bite us unless we sharpen it up a little bit.”
One obvious thing we know is, Utah Valley men’s soccer senior forward Blake Frischknecht is really, really good at scoring goals. An example of what we don’t quite know is, after New Mexico State in volleyball, whose play is for real and whose is fake?
The Wolverine offense would finally come alive in the 85th minute with a goal by freshman defender Jenna Shepherd, who was assisted by junior defender Cassidy McCormick. Before anyone on the pitch could even blink, Shepherd got the Wolverines on the board again, unassisted in the 87th minute.
“We had a tremendous crowd tonight on homecoming for both the women’s game and the men’s game tonight,” said UVU men’s head coach Greg Maas. “I was really excited, obviously they gave us a lot of energy and our guys love to play here on Clyde Field in front of our Den.”
“Super happy and proud of the girls that continue to just keep trying to find a way to find the back of the net,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “It was probably harder than we wanted it to be, but we grinded it out and we got the result that we wanted and we’re really excited about how our non-conference segment went.”

“It was a wild game you know, everything from the weather, the fans, the cards, the officiating and the goals. It was a knockout kind of battle and I don’t think we played well initially in the first 20 minutes,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “We were very lethargic, second to balls, it almost took their goal to wake us up and as soon as we conceded we started to build a little momentum. I thought we took that into the second half.”
“There were individual efforts that were good defensively, collectively we were good. Defensively you know it’s a shame to give up one and lose,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “At the end of the day they’re a really good team and are ranked in the top-10 for a reason.”
“We loved the ending and we feel like we deserved it. I felt like our possession was great all night, created a lot of chances and we stayed persistent,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “Juli Carter was in the right place and she was able to tuck it away, that is what she was there to do.”
