Cross Country bring home 2nds in Color Country Invite

On Friday the men’s and women’s cross country teams headed down to Cedar City, Utah to compete in the Color Country Invitational. Both teams headed home that afternoon sporting second place team finishes. The men earned their placement with 45 points and the women with 43 points.

On the men’s side Southern Utah University claimed the over all victory with 19 points. Idaho State University came in behind UVU for a third place finish (81) and Utah state claimed fourth (103). Dixie State rounded out the field with 127 points and a fifth place finish.

The women of Idaho State University claimed first with 36 points. Southern Utah University followed UVU by placing third (64) and University of Nevada Las Vagus took fourth (123). Dixie State (127) and Utah State (169) rounded out the field with fifth and sixth place finishes respectively.

Out of the seven men who UVU brought down to the meet to represent the Wolverines only 3 made it in the top 20. Leading the team was Logan Petty as he finished the course in a fourth place over all finish with a time of 20:14.4. Following Petty were Trevor Sharp (20:47.7) and Mills Rush (20:58.0) with 14th and 18th place finishes respectively.

The Utah Valley women brought down 11 athletes to represent the program. Seven of those women finished in the top 20 and three finished in the top 10. The lady Wolverines were lead by Makayla Stepp who came in with a time of 15:35.2 and earned fifth. Darian Sharp (15:43.2) and Irie Gonsalvas (15:47.7) also lead the team with seventh and ninth over all placements respectively.

Cross Country will travel to Santa Clara University on October 18th to compete in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
