As February comes to a close and the warm weather feels as though it’s just around the corner, it’s time to make a transition in your listening style to something a little more conducive to the good times that accompany a welcome weather change. To get an early start on the concert season, begin in your own back yard.

At 8 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo you can expand or discover your lust for reggae beats with Sober Down. Recently voted Utah’s best Reggae/Rock band by the Huka Reggae Lounge, Sober Down supplies the music that make the good times better. Their high energy shows always get everyone to their feet and on the dance floor. With relatable and real lyrics, a tight horn section, and unmatched guitar riffs, all accompanied by drums and thick baselines that pulse right into your chest, these seasoned musicians have created a unique sound that can hardly be ignored.

Because each member of the band has been involved in the local music scene for years, this six piece group has found a musical chemistry with staying power. In January of this year Sober Down released a full length CD entitled “Pressure.” They celebrated by inviting friends and fans to a private cabin for their epic CD release party, providing food, drinks and beds for all who attended.

This band is all about the music and giving back to the people who make it possible for them to do what they love. The CD contains 12 tracks that won’t leave CD player or your head a good long while. You can sample some of their music at SoberDown.com and then add it to your collection by picking up your copy at the show, at Graywhale locations or iTunes. Nothing says “bring on summer” like reggae music, and what better way to bid farewell to the cold and welcome the warm weather than with a reggae show at Provo’s own Velour and the reggae stylings of Sober Down?
