Summer nights are always well spent under the glow of stadium lights. I feel lucky to have a baseball team, literally in the backyard of my attended, and now esteemed, university to cheer on during the summer. The Orem Owlz are a staple in this Utah Valley community.

It means that each time I mention the school, my article is three letters longer than it would have been two months ago.
As UVSC undergoes its proverbial name change and becomes UVU, students and fans alike are curious to find out what this will mean on the field, court, pitch and track. While the uniforms will be fresh out of the box with “UVU” emblazoned across each chest, and with the new logos adorning the athlete’s warm-ups, the question remains if the product on display will be just as fresh?
In a monumental run the Fresno State Bulldogs pulled off the impossible by winning the College World as a fourth seed, and became the highest seeded team to win a championship in any sport. A four seed in the College World series would be comparable to a 15th or 16th seeded team winning the NCAA basketball tournament.
For a split second, Real Salt Lake thought they had battled themselves into second place in the Western Conference with a win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Midfielder Kyle Beckerman knocked a loose ball into the back of the net off a Javier Morales corner kick to take a 1-0 lead in the 72nd minute. While the celebration ensued, the referee called a late offside on Beckerman annulling the goal and a RSL win.
Former Utah Valley pitcher Marcus Moore signed a deal on Thursday with the Baltimore Orioles and will begin his professional career in Sarasota, Florida as a member of the Gulf Coast League Orioles.
