Thrifting Tactics

February 23, 2009 Mel Sundquist 0

1. Study up. As your career as a thrift store shopper progresses, you’ll learn which local shops are best for what you’re looking for. For example, if you’re looking for sweaters, you’ll generally find the best prices at the Deseret Industries in Provo. But if a new pair of shoes is your goal, it’s a toss up between Savers in Orem and the Deseret Industries in American Fork.

Do it yourself

February 23, 2009 Mel Sundquist 0

It’s difficult to purchase something you know you can make yourself. When looking online or in a store for a new piece of clothing, consider whether or not you can make it yourself. In the dressing room 1. Take photos. In many stores you’ll have to be covert while taking photos.

No car, no problem

February 23, 2009 Matthew A. Jonassaint 0

Every time I eat one of my typically modest-budget meals, I always find myself thanking heaven I’m too pathetic to have a car. To be sure, I’m more pathetic for not having a license. It’s a long story involving some eggs, a wedding and a car chase, but in high school I never got that special privilege to drive.

Got Couch?

February 23, 2009 Jessica Burnham 0

While exploring Europe for six months last year, native Australian Lauren Smith had experiences which ordinary tourists and backpackers alike would envy. “I hiked up the French Pyrenees mountains and spent the night partying in a 200-year-old abandoned villa,” Smith said.

Thrift Store Shopping Tips

February 23, 2009 Loraine Gholdston 0

Shopping at thrift stores may begin as a necessity, but after time and practice it develops into an art form. After enough good finds at great prices, it becomes a hobby, a leisure activity to be enjoyed and savored. There are methods of finding little treasures- and sometimes big ones.

How to cook out of a hotel room

February 23, 2009 Merinda Pearce 0

If you’re anything like me, you are a poor college student. I recently spent some time out of town on a school function and was going to miss work and could not afford to eat out every day. By spending less than $20 beforehand on food to bring along, I was able to eat well without spending any money on the trip.

Vino Vidi Vici

February 23, 2009 Jared Magill 0

The placebo values informed by local cultural idiosyncrasies have rendered an unpardonable disservice upon the children of saints. Orwell, Huxley and Carlin all roll in their graves while a population adorned in magic underwear bask in a ludicrous testament of corporate protocol which holds such substances as Ambien, Prozac and Oxycontin beyond moral reproach while holding as objectionable, the very beverage our lord preferred over water.

Want more for your buck?

February 23, 2009 UVU Review 0

Have hard times gotten you bugaboo or made you frustrated with the often high cost of being a student? If so, you’re definitely not alone. Even the best of us have to search for creative ways to make sure every dollar we spend goes as far as it possibly can.

Wolverine wrestlers extend winning streak

February 16, 2009 Parker Donat 0

After securing the best team winning percentage in school history of 10-2, and a perfect 3-0 in conference, the wrestling team attributes its success to being a team family that works hard and believes in each other. After coming back from 9-15 deficit against North Dakota State last week, the Wolverines Adam Fager and Diego Avalon pulled it together, winning their last two matches in dramatic fashion and boosting the team to an 18-15 win.
