Battle the Cold

December 8, 2008 Jessica Anne Beere 0

Parking in the dead of winter: the task is enough to keep you dreading the moment your alarm clock sounds, interrupting the serenity of your sleep. Sadly, you cannot hibernate. You must emerge from the warmth of your covers and face the bitter cold as a warrior.

Disc golf course on campus

November 24, 2008 Reed Noble 0

UVU has its own disc golf course, located around the ponds between the main campus buildings and the baseball field. Disc golf started in the late 60’s by a man whose name was “Steady” Ed Headrick. He was the father of not only disc golf, but of modern day disc sports.

Wolverines suffer setback in season opener

November 24, 2008 0

The Wolverines began their season with two games back-to-back on Nov. 14-15, ended with a split result of one loss and one win. Montana State took the first season game from the Wolverines winning 94-71. “It is unacceptable for us to give up 94 points a game, it’s just unacceptable,” said coach Cathy Nixon.

Toolson misses two free throws

November 24, 2008 Jack Waters 0

Greg Maddux won a Gold Glove. The Republican Party won in our consistently red state. The Simpsons entertain on a weekly basis. These are things we expect. Tuesday night, the unexpected happened. It involved Ryan Toolson, UVU’s star of the hardwood. No, it wasn’t his jaw-dropping offensive output of 41 points, but it was a charity stripe that proved not so charitable.

Dream season comes to an end in Western Conference Finals

November 24, 2008 Kyle Jellings 0

40 degrees and dropping, pyrotechnics blazing and a crowd salivating because they can taste the sweetness of a Western Conference championship. The story came to an end however when Real Salt Lake lost 1-0 to the New York Red Bulls last week. RSL fell short of playing for its first Major League Soccer Championship even though they were the aggressor throughout the entire game.

Toolson nets 41 in decisive win

November 24, 2008 Kyle Jellings 0

Newton’s first law of motion states, “Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.” In the first two games of the Wolverines’ season Ryan Toolson has been an object in motion, and defenses have not been able to apply the force necessary to stop him.

Struggles early for lady Wolverines

November 24, 2008 Matt Beaudin 0

A team with an All-American, several returning starters and a home court advantage that resulted in an undefeated run in the McKay Center last season isn’t suppose to start out the year with a loss. But that’s exactly what happened to the Wolverines. After dropping their only exhibition game to Fort Lewis at home 82-53 the Wolverines should have taken notice.
