The Fourth of July is a high-point of summer and there’s no better time to be on top of the season’s fashion game. Don’t look drab on this day of festivities. It might seem simple, but taking the time to look nice is a great way to show off your pride and patriotism.

As the Valley perks up with parades, festivals, barbecues and fireworks, you’ll want to make sure that you’re dressed for each occasion. For the many places you can go and activities you can do to celebrate Independence Day, we’ve got you covered.

Barbecue bombshell

Following the morning parade, barbecues are always happening. What to wear doesn’t need to be stressful or over-thought. A basic screen tank with a patriotic print like this American flag is simple yet appropriate for watermelon and hamburgers. Pair it with some feminine denim shorts to balance the style. Dressier sandals accent each item and show that you put some effort into your Independence Day spirit.

Fun in the sun

In between all of the chaos and planned festivities, girls’ time is crucial to escape those relatives and acquaintances you saw enough of. Whether it be boating, biking, shopping or whatever else relaxes you, dressing in style is still crucial. The Fourth is one of those perfect holidays for photographing memories to save and Instagrams to post. A graphic tee with a cute phrase or quote in red, white or blue suits girl-time well. Start scouting Forever 21 or H&M now for some high-waisted flag shorts to compliment the tee and finish it with basic vans in any of the three colors.

Family flare

As you wind down with the barbecues and boating with friends, it’s time to turn your focus to family. You know Mom and Dad will be upset if you don’t dress nice for family photos, no doubt hoping to leave a good impression with those relatives you never see. Turning up your style for the day with a blue lace or chambray dress is classic. Increase the patriotism with a red blazer or cardigan and belt the outfit with a brown or white belt. Flats are always basic and appropriate for the outfit but also consider some white wedges or heels to really dress up the outfit and be remembered.

Fire in the sky

The sun is going down and the stars are coming out. It’s fireworks time as the Stadium of Fire show is about to begin. You made a picnic date with your best friend or that guy you’d been waiting for. Dressing to impress is the only option you have. Although it’ll still be warm, you need to layer more. Red or cobalt jeans are a statement you can’t go wrong with. Blue, red and white stripes or polka dots even out the bright color and converse are the go to closed toe footwear this summer season. Either high tops or low tops are a perfect choice with your skinnies.
