Utah Valley women’s soccer team kicks off another night at Clyde Field Thursday against the Idaho State Bengals.
After a goal made by Utah Valley’s Jamie Lyons pushed the game into overtime, the Wolverines once again sacrificed another 2-1 win, this time to the Bengals.
“I thought our mid-field played really well,” said head couch Brent Anderson. “They followed a game plan well and today I thought they were really focused and we did some really good things in the attack.”
Idaho State started the second half of the game with a 1-0 lead against the Wolverines as Lyons ricochet goal off ISU’s keeper tied up the game with only two minutes left on the clock.
Utah Valley’s defenses stayed strong as they played with all their might to keep from another lose. With a hand full of attempts taken from the Wolverines, it just wasn’t enough to keep the Bengals away.
With the fourth overtime of the season, Bengal’s Rachel Strawn scored the winning goal putting Utah Valley at 1-5-1.
“We didn’t generate as many shots as we wanted,” Anderson said. “But I think we did some things we talked about and I was happy to see that.”
Utah Valley hits the road again to compete against their Midwest rival in Wyoming on Sunday in hopes to bring them back to another victory this season.
“I often times think that playing on the road can galvanize your team and can help focus you to not get distracted,” Anderson said. “Being on the road isn’t always a bad thing.”
