Cedar City, UT – The Utah Valley Wolverines suffered their second defeat in succession today, losing 2-1 to the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah University. The Wolverines are now 3-3-0 on the year with all of their losses coming away from home.

The Thunderbirds came out focused the moment the whistle blew and got off to a quick start by scoring in the 6th minute of the match. Haley Adams put a shot away past UVU’s Jessica Duffin. Shelby Green was able to beat Duffin again in the 30th minute when she headed in a cross from Emilee Bohls.

UVU was able to get on the scoreboard by way of their captain Kasandra Anderson in the 55th minute. She gathered a cross from Taylor Kirk and fired home her shot to put the score at 2-1. While both teams had chances the rest of the game, no team could capitalize on them. The final whistle blew with the Thunderbirds holding on to the 2-1 victory.

The Wolverines will look to bounce back from their difficult road trip when they return to home to Clyde Field in Orem on Thursday night to take on the Idaho State Bengals. Kick off is at 7:30pm MT.
