On Saturday the Utah Valley University men’s cross-country team competed in the Cowboy Jamboree, hosted by Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Eight of the top ten teams in the country were present at the meet,  including the top six teams.

Crosstown rival Brigham Young University finished the meet first as a team with a score of 75 holding a comfortable 26 point lead over the second place team, Stanford Universtiy. The host school, OSU, finished fourth in the team standings with 118 points.

UVU placed 16th in the 27 team pool for the jamboree. The Wolverines finished with a score of 448 with a scoring order of 53-76-84-115-120 and a total race time of 2:03:35. Redshirt Junior Joel Mendez led the Wolverine pack finishing first on the team and 53rd overall completing an 8k in 24:10.3 less than a minute behind Alex Maier from Oklahoma State, the individual winner who ran a 23:16.9 race.

Max Mahon, Habtamu Cheney, Adam Bunker, and Ayden Womack rounded out the Wolverines race to contribute to the 448 points. Mahon finished with a time of 24:24.9, Cheney a 24:33:7, Bunker a 25:08.5 and Womack a 25:16.9

As a team the Wolverines defeated #23 Furman and placed just a few points behind #24 Ole Miss.
