There is a lot of talent at UVU. Three UVU students have made it to the top 20 on the top rated TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”. Witney Carson and Lindsay Arnold are both freshman and Nick Bloxsom-Carter is a senior. All three are studying Ballroom dance.http://static.tvguide.com/MediaBin/Galleries/Editorial/120625/SYTYCD/sytycd_09-witney-carson-pub_0565.jpg

Bloxsom-Carter was a member of the UVU ballroom dance team when they performed and won first place on the show, Dancing With The Stars. He contributed when they won the College Dance Competition.

Carson, who lives in American fork, and recently graduated from American Fork High School is also quite the dancer. She has been studying dance, since the age of three. She was nine years-old when she began training in Ballroom. She has studied at The Vibe dance studio, competing in many dance competitions.

The entire audition process is intense and stressful, but she managed to catch the judges attention with her Latin style Ballroom and even got the first Hot tamale scream of the season from Mary Murphy along with her ticket to Vegas, where the next round would be held.

Vegas week, is known as one of the most challenging experiences for a dancer on the show, both mentally and physically. She has managed to push through with all of the choreography and has been performing her own Latin solos as well, with the judges still in awe and loving her, because she is now in the top twenty. Carson is excited, but this is not her first time dancing on TV.

She got the opportunity to perform on Dancing With The Stars with The Vibe dance studio. They also competed on Paula Abdul’s TV dance show, Live To Dance, and were the largest group to advance to the finals. Then they were asked to perform at the Chinese new year celebration in Hong Kong.

Besides on the dance floor, you might commonly see her out on the golf course. Some may think she would hate how slow and void of movement golf is, but she loves it. She is learning how to play the guitar and drums and is enjoying every minuet of it.

She is known to be inspired by Chelsie Hightower, who is also a Ballroom dancer from Utah. When Carson was asked who would be her dream partner from the past SYTYCD seasons she said, “Twitch, because he is so entertaining with high energy and is an amazing dancer.”

Carson is still on the show so support her by watching. Time will tell if Carson and the other UVU students can dance. SYTYCD can be seen on Wednesday nights on FOX 13 at 7:00 PM.
