UVU documentarians are making their mark in 2009. In the weeks and months to come, we have several documentaries from current and former students to look forward to. Here are two to keep your eye on.
The Sonosopher
Filmmakers Travis Low and Torben Bernhard paint a portrait of the life, the art and the sound of Alex Caldiero, UVU’s Artist in Residence and self-termed Sonosopher. The two filmmakers began this project with Caldiero in 2007, and have since followed him from Utah to Italy and New York City, recording his performances and documenting his life. A fundraiser screening is scheduled for Sept. 25 in the Ragan Theatre on UVU campus. Tickets will be available from Sept. 1 at Campus Connection for $5.
Property of Michael S. Fritchen
Michael S. Fritchen, a.k.a. “The Fritchenator,” is a distinctive man with a penchant for loneliness. At 33 years old, he’s never been married, he’s kissed only one girl in his life and he doesn’t consider himself to be a “real adult”. In “Property of Michael S. Fritchen,” filmmaker and UVU alum Matt Eastin follows the Fritchenator for an entire year, with surprising revelations about Fritchen’s love life (or more specifically the lack thereof), his ever-changing living situation, and a dark secret that manages to still retain the tragic Fritchen charm.
