Police blotter

Marital problems

Sept. 23-An officer approached a car parked behind some tall weeds south of the UVU playing fields off Geneva Road. The man inside explained that he had a fight with his wife and was just looking for a place to sleep.

Chest pains

Sept. 23-Campus police was called when a male came into the medical offices of the Sorensen Center complaining about chest pains. After paramedics arrived, the male was released with no need of being transported.

Misplaced vehicle

Sept. 23-A student called police, saying his car in L4 might have been stolen. The officer then located the vehicle in another lot.

Brandished weapon

Sept. 24- An officer responded to a report that a male was carrying a firearm out in the open. The officer advised him on gun laws, which prohibit such brandishing.

Drug scent

Sept. 25-Someone reported smelling drugs on campus. The guilty party was located by campus police and cited.

Panic alarm

Sept. 25-An officer responded to the panic alarm in the Browning Administration Building. Upon arrival, it was determined the alarm was malfunctioning.

Near trespass

Sept. 25-An ex-student who has a protective order to stay away from campus was reportedly seen near the roundabout. An officer located him just off campus and found no evidence that he had crossed onto UVU property.

Inappropriate touching

Sept. 25-A female student reported that she was touched inappropriately during a medical exam in Student Health Services. An officer took down a report from the student.

Dancing thief

Sept. 26-A student reported losing his wallet at the homecoming dance. He suggested someone might have taken it out of his pocket, as he had danced closely with several persons.

Panic alarm (again)

Sept. 26-The panic alarm in the Browning Administration Building was once again set off. Upon arrival, the officer determined a faulty button was to blame and fixed it.

Threatening emails

Sept. 26-An officer spoke to a female who said she felt threatened by emails sent by a male student. The male student was contacted and told he was not allowed back onto campus until further notice.

SLWC assault

Sept. 28-Police met with a male student employee regarding an alleged assault that took place on Sept. 25 between him and his supervisor in the Life and Wellness Center. An assault was found to have taken place and the case is being investigated further.

Muscle spasms

Sept. 29-A male student was reported to have muscle spasms and could not move. After a few minutes, he was able to stand and the responding officer allowed him to move to Student Health Services.
