Former UVSC student Ammon Hardin, 18, was arrested by the Provo Police Department on Dec. 10 after evidence linked him to three armed robberies and two break-ins.

Expect the number of bachelor’s degrees at UVSC to continue to increase with this year’s transition to university status. At the start of the fall 2007 semester, UVSC broadened its degree offerings, which now totals 56 bachelor’s programs.

Earning a college degree requires the devotion of time and effort. It also requires something less readily available to college students: money, a lot of money.

A few years ago the honors program amounted to a handful of classes with an H embedded in their call number (i.e. 101H) and the honors office consisted of a small cramped room in the bowels of the Liberal Arts building. Entering the program was as simple as adding an honors course, and completion of the program was based solely on completing a certain number of credits. Starting this semester, that has all changed.

Last month, UVSC took another significant step toward becoming UVU. In a meeting held Dec. 14, the Utah State Board of Regents approved a new mission statement for UVSC.

The 14th annual UVSC Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration is to take place on Jan 15 and 16 with notable speakers and performers coming to campus and UVSC students displaying artwork.
