UVU used a second-half goal by Katey Turner to claim the first ever GWCC with a win over Houston Baptist last week. The goal came as Brianne Larsen passed the ball to Turner who dribbled to the top of the box, and banged it home to secure the win.

“I told her halftime that I knew she was going to score quickly because, to that point, she wasn’t playing that well,” said UVU coach Brent Anderson, commenting on Turner’s goal. “That’s kind of the way it’s gone for her, but she got that ball and made the most of it. I’m really proud of her.”

Turner finished with four goals and two assists in the three tournament games, giving her 10 points and making her the easy choice for tournament MVP. Joining her on the all-tournament team were seniors Tasha Bell, Brooke Salcido and Adrienne Schneider.

UVU finished the season 9-10-1 on the year, ending the season 8-1-1 over the last 10 games. The Wolverines were also unbeaten in six Great West regular season and three Great West tournament games.
