The fans that adorn the seats at Brent Brown Ballpark during Orem Owlz baseball games have become accustomed to winning. They have sat in the stadium as the evening sun ducks behind the stands night after night and witnessed the Owlz grind their way to Pioneer League championships. However, in the Owlz first home stand of the season, the potential Anaheim Angels dropped two games in a row to the Idaho Falls Chukars with poor offensive production and dismal fielding to blame.
A scene shift and a date with the Ogden Raptors seemed to be just what the Owlz needed to bust their slump. The Owlz broke out their bats in game one of a two game trip to Ogden with a 9-5 win over the lowly Raptors. Behind Buddy Boshers five innings of work the Owlz scored nine runs, the most they have brought across the plate so far this season. Every player recorded at least one hit and seven different players scored at least one run. Jon Karcich finished three-for-three with two doubles and three runs scored.
The offensive explosion for Orem will hopefully travel with the Owlz as they return home for an extended home stand in which the Billings Mustangs and Great Falls Voyagers come to town. The matchup with the Voyagers will set up a rematch from last seasons Pioneer League championship series that saw the Voyagers win the title over the Owlz in the third a deciding game.
