The second expansion of World of Warcraft was released on Nov. 13. Entitled “Wrath of the Lich King,” the game takes place on the mythical northern continents of Azeroth and sold more games within the first 24 hours of its release than any other PC game ever has to date.

“This game did break PC records, selling 2.8 million in the first 24 hours. That is the highest for PC sales,” said Ben Steele, UVU student and World of Warcraft fan.

About 200 people lined up to wait for the game outside of Game Stop in the University Mall. The crowd stayed outside of the mall until 11 p.m., when workers let them inside to wait by the doors of Game Stop.
There were no worries about stores running out of games, because Blizzard did a mass release.

Zack Weber, a UVU student, was one of the first to get the game. Weber has been playing World of Warcraft for four years; he’s been around “since the original installment.” He even decided to upload the game on his laptop before leaving the Mall. Weber is pictured above.

“The Wrath of the Lich King” “adds more experiences to the game – more professions, more classes, more levels,” said Steele.
