Sandwiched in between mega retail stores Gap and Nordstrom in the University Mall is a most unexpected cultural experience sponsored by UVSC.
Many students are unaware of the existence of the off-campus Woodbury Art Museum, home to a multitude of works by professional artists across Utah.
From Nov. 2 until Dec. 14, artworks will no longer be exclusively for viewing pleasure; the museum will host its first "Art for Life" benefit exhibition and auction, which is free and open to the public.
Silent bidding for the items will begin Nov. 19 and conclude Dec. 7.
"There is a wide range of prices that will suit many budgets, and purchased works will be available just in time for Christmas," said Woodbury Art Museum Director Marcus Vincent.
Vincent said the minimum bid for each item is 25 percent off the regular retail value.
Proceeds from the silent auction will contribute to the formation of an endowment for the Woodbury Art Museum, as well as initial funds for the construction of the proposed Fine and Performing Arts Center on the UVSC campus.
More than 70 professional artists donated items for this particular event, which is sponsored by UVSC; The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and the Utah Arts Council.
The museum is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
