Performers in this year’s spring ballroom concert are busily preparing for what promises to be a spectacular show at the Ragan theatre this week. The participating students are from the top of the ballroom totem pole at UVU: the Bronze, Silver, and Gold teams and the tour team. Students with ambitions to win scholarships and aspiring professional dancers guarantee a dazzling performance. These are students who have had to brave the highly competitive auditions to earn their spots on the teams and their chops for the real world.
They will astound — as they always do — with dreamy waltzes, spirited foxtrots, the difficult quickstep, the jive, the fiery cha-cha, energetic samba, romantic rumba and the fiery paso-doble.
The teachers for the various teams are excellent choreographers. Laura Payne heads the Bronze team, Tara Boyd the Silver team and Chris Whitt the Gold team. Scott Asbell teaches and choreographs for the tour team. It will be an evening full of surprises and fun both on the stage and from the seats in the Ragan theatre.
