Two graham crackers, a toasted marshmallow, and a small bar of chocolate-these are the ingredients for one of the easiest recipes ever known. The s’more. Simply scrumptious.
Have you ever made a s’more? Did you make a s’more this summer? Because time is running out.
Located just nine miles northeast of campus, Provo Canyon is the place to make one last s’more before the snow flies. To reach Provo Canyon take 800 North in Orem east to the mountains. Stay to the left to enter the canyon. The right lane will take you to Provo.
There are at least five good parks along a five mile-stretch of Highway 189 through Provo Canyon. Any of the parks can be a great place to make a perfect s’more since they all have fire pits or barbeque grills. The parks also have pavilions, picnic tables, restrooms, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and access to the Provo River.
Each of the five parks has its own personality and uniqueness. Canyon View Park has informational displays. Canyon Glen Park has a large open area that just screams, "ultimate frisbee!" Nunns Park has historical markers identifying the location of one of America’s first hydropower plants. Bridal Veil Park has a beautiful large waterfall. And Vivian Park is the end of the line for a Utah icon-a train lovingly referred to as the "Heber Creeper."

The parks of Provo Canyon can be a great destination for a date, a family home evening or a gathering of friends. Make sure someone remembers to bring the ingredients to make s’mores.
