Noorda Events – Spring 2025

As the Spring 2025 semester begins at UVU and classes kick into high gear, stress levels are rising. The semester can mean more than difficult classes or lots of homework, however, as the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts begins the second half of its 2024-2025 season run.
This semester sees the return of National Theatre Live with ‘Hamlet’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch. This show will be streamed on Jan. 9. It will be followed a week later, on Jan. 16, by a performing group called Gangstagrass, who blend genres such as hip-hop and classic bluegrass.
The next event in January, on the 24 and 25, is Gershwin’s Cabaret titled Curtain’s Up, which features works from George and Ira Gershwin performed live by the UVU Musical Theatre Program and the UVU Chamber Orchestra. January events end with a production presented by the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, titled ‘The Pa’akai We Bring.’
Never fear for the end of the fun, as events pick up again in February, with the UVU Emerald Singers, Deep Green and Chamber Choirs ringing in the Spring season on the fifth. National Theatre Live returns once again on the sixth with a production titled ‘Prima Facie,’ written by Suzie Miller and directed by Justin Martin.
Feb. 13 rings in two different performances. The 13 marks a visit from a jazz production titled ‘New Orleans Songbook’ and is the first showing of a three-day production featuring the UVU Contemporary Dance Ensemble titled ‘A Bolt from the Blue.’ And February doesn’t end there, with events ranging from Ballet Folklorico de Mexico on the 18 to the 2025 Art History Symposium on the 27. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago visits on the 25, and UVU Theatre begins their production run of ‘The Whole Story’ on the 21.
March also has a wonderful set of shows, beginning with a Spring Concert by the UVU Wind Symphony on March 5, followed by National Theatre Live’s third return this semester on the sixth with ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ by Oscar Wilde.
The Utah Symphony will also host an event on the 20, with a performance of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8, with a special concerto performance featuring concertmaster Madeline Adkins. The Theatre for Youth and Education follows on March 21 and 22 with their showing of ‘Scaredy Kat Presents.’
March 27-29 are days claimed by the Repertory Ballet Ensemble in their performance of ‘Traversing Tradition.’ The month ends with the Commercial Music Showcase on the 28, featuring original works by the Commercial Music students at UVU.
Finally, April also puts on a great showing with productions featuring student performances from the many different Performing Arts programs at UVU. Join the Jazz Orchestra at UVU on April 2, or The Queen’s Cartoonists on the fourth with their production featuring work from UVU’s Art and Design students. The fourth also marks the first showing of UVU Theatre’s presentation of ‘Little Women,’ which runs until the 12 of April.
April 8 is the showing of Mixtape Live by UVU’s Commercial Music Program, and the 11 and 12 are ‘Opera vs. Popera,’ a production by UVU’s Opera department. The Emerald Singers present their Spring Concert on the 16, followed by the runs of two different shows on the 17-19. On those days, drop by to see either the UVU Ballroom Dance Company, or the UVU Theatre’s ‘Short Attention Span Theatre.’ And then everything is drawn to a close on April 21 by the Wind Symphony for their final performance of the year.
And that is not all. Check back in during the semester to see performances also by the UVU Symphony Orchestra and the UVU Chamber Orchestra. The Art galleries—gallery on sixth and gallery on fourth in the Gunther Technology building—will also switch out pieces periodically throughout the semester.
