LARAMIE, Wyoming – The Utah Valley University women’s soccer team was unable to come away with a win against the Wyoming Cowgirls at the Louis S. Madrid Soccer Complex Friday in a game that went into double overtime. The winning shot came at the hands of Wyoming’s Alisha Bass off a corner kick with only 10 seconds left in the second overtime. This gives the Wolverines only their second loss of the season, falling to a 4-2-0 record.

The Wolverines tested Cowgirls goalkeeper Georgia Rowntree in the second half with an attack of 10 shots, including four on goal. Taylor Kirk put pressure on the Cowgirls early in the second half with a shot in the 50th minute but Rowntree sent it back. Kirk made another attempt in the 61st minute, but was again denied by Rowntree.

In the first overtime, Sara Callister almost gave UVU the win with a shot in the 98th minute that hit the post. Taylor Kirk rebounded the ball, then shot just wide.

Goalkeeper Brooklyn Nielsen played the entire match for UVU and recorded four saves. This loss marks the third goal allowed by Nielsen for the season.

UVU looks to bounce back from the loss by playing Colorado College Sunday at Washburn Field in Colorado Springs, Colo. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. MT.
