Last week in the UVU Sports Writer’s fantasy football league there were many exciting games and this week promises to have many more, with great matchups across the board.

Last week’s highest scoring team, the Slammin Fortes (1-0) looks to be in another shootout this week with Victory Formation (0-1). Fortes looks to rely once again on the power combo of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Victory Formation looks to bounce back from a rough loss, expecting some roster changes to pay off. After a great debut, Formation looks to Ameer Abdullah to put up huge numbers against a Vikings defense that was gouged by Carlos Hyde last week. This one is bound to have lots of points.

Get Fined (0-1) and Team Morin (1-0) were both involved in close matches last week and they look to be involved in another close one this week. Morin looks for CJ Anderson to bounce back and put up big numbers. After a great outing last week, Morin expects Travis Kelce to have another big game. Fined looks for her running backs, Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett, to carry her team to victory. This game will be close, and the winner may be not be decided until Monday.

After putting up lots of points but falling short in a shootout, Team Poffenberger (0-1) looks for more big performances to beat the Las Vegas Locos (1-0). Poffenberger looks for DeAndre Hopkins to put up big numbers again and for DeMarco Murray to live up to his draft position after a horrible week one performance that saw him only rush for nine yards. The Locos look to Julio Jones and Jason Witten to put more touchdowns on the board. This one will be exciting.

Eazy G (1-0) and Mr. Sports Editor (1-0) both won their first games and look to extend their winning streak. Eazy G is leaning on his passing attack to put up big numbers, boasting the elite names of Andrew Luck and Antonio Brown. Editor looks for Frank Gore to have a bounce back week and for Jordan Reed to have another big week after torching the Dolphins tough defense last week. Eazy G is the favorite here, but don’t count out Mr. Sports Editor.

Breesus King of the Drews (0-1) and Amazing St. Patrick (0-1) both played well but fell short last week. This week both look poised to take their first win. Drews looks to Drew Brees to light up the Bucs defense like rookie Marcus Mariota did last week. He also look for Carlos Hyde to have another great game in Pittsburg. Patrick will also be relying on his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, to lead his team in points. Another solid outing from Alfred Morris and Patrick may just get his first win. This game could be close.

Like every week, this will be full of ups and downs, and the victories will be hard won. Each team prepares as they keep their eye on the prize of the championship.
