Center Josie Williams and Maria Carvalho combined for 35 points in a 68-65 nail-biting win over the Dixie State Trailblazers in the Burns Arena.

The last two minutes were very close, but the Wolverines found another gear and left the court victorious. Head coach Dan Nielsen later said, “As much as I’d like to see us win more comfortably after having the lead, I was proud we fought through some adversity.”

With 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Madison Grange dished out a pass splitting two defenders to find Williams for a perfect hook shot to seal the game.

Williams, who got her 10th double-double of the season, dominated the boards the entire game. She notched 18 points and 14 rebounds on just 6/10 shooting. The Trailblazers were struggling to find any way to stop her.

Williams was not the only one who was running up the stat sheet.

Carvahlo was on fire shooting 50% from the field, putting up 17 points, and grabbing 8 rebounds in the win.

On the defensive end, both Grange and Ally Blackham were pickpocketing the DSU team each ending the game with two steals that would help ice the game.

Although being up 62 to 45 with eight minutes left, the Trailblazers clawed their way back and went on to score 17 more to spice things up and tie the game.

With this game snapping their six-game losing streak the Wolverines will head to Edinburg, Texas to face-off against WAC foe UTRGV. The game is on Thursday, Jan. 20, and tips off at 6 p.m
