Wiesel and the Nobel Laureates speak live in Orem

The Elie Wiesel Foundation will be hosting the Conference of Nobel Laureates Oct. 5 and 6 at Manhattan’s Ninety-second Street Y. Presiding over the conference will be Wiesel, author of the Holocaust memoir Night, and David Axelrod, senior advisor to President Obama.
“But wait,” you say. “How do these diplomatic wheelings and dealings in New York affect me? I live in Utah Valley and I certainly am not about to just hop on a plane to LaGuardia on such short notice. I don’t have that sort of disposable income.”
To which we say, quit your hand-wringing and belly-aching, because the Orem Public Library will be broadcasting the event live on Oct. 6.
According to press from the Ninety-second Street Y, the event will bring together the “world’s greatest minds and the next generation of decision makers.”
The conference will be modeled after the Wiesel Foundation’s Nobel Conferences held in Petra, Jordan between 2005 and 2008. Panelists will focus on how to manage the changing nature of leadership in the twenty-first century.
Participants in the conference will discuss the Middle East, economic development and the need for a new, more transparent style of corporate leadership. Afterward, Wiesel and Axelrod will present summaries of each of the discussions.
The event will broadcast live Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Orem Public Library, at 58 N. State St. Admission is free.
The conference is not to be confused with the forty-sixth Annual Nobel Conference on the same dates in St. Peter, Minnesota. They’ll be wondering why food tastes good at that one. Not really the kind of thing you broadcast.
