SPRINGVILLE, Utah (Oct. 11, 2025) — Utah Valley University students looking to combine fitness and service are invited to join the Run for Mugiti, a 5K and 1-mile charity race happening Saturday at 9 a.m. at Memorial Park in Springville.
Proceeds will benefit the Home of Good Hope, an orphanage and school in Mugiti, Uganda, which provides food, education and shelter to more than 550 children.
In the official press release, event organizer Adam Allen said, “We’ve organized this event to be the most family-friendly race in Utah with lower entry fees, finish line treats and activities, and a good cause to bring everyone together.”
The Mugiti Good Hope Foundation, founded in 2013 by Dan Dambirenza and Lydia Logose, began with only a few children and now serves hundreds daily. On the organization’s website, board member Khali Goddard said, “Dan is a man of rare integrity — every contribution you give will go directly to the children and the school’s growth.” (mugitigoodhope.carrd.co)
Runners can choose between a self-timed 5K or 1-mile fun run. Registration is open through RunSignup.com, and the first 200 participants will receive a free race hat. Finish-line festivities will include music, food and family-friendly activities.
For UVU students, the event offers an easy opportunity to volunteer, serve and connect with a global cause just minutes from campus.
