Business – The new iPhone 3G went on sale on July 11. This newer version is cheaper, at $199 compared to the original iPhone of $599. It is predicted that 8 million will be sold this year, a number estimated to grow to 29 million in 2009.

Politics – John McCain has raised $22 million in June and now has a total of $27 million for his campaign. Barack Obama has not yet revealed his June fundraising total.

Court Cases – On July 9, authorities cleared all family members of the JonBenet Ramsey slaying after a “touch DNA” testing. Suspicions of family involvement had arisen when 6-year-old JonBenet was found dead in her home, the year 1996. With new DNA testing, it is hoped the real killer will be found.

Health – More than 1,000 cases of salmonella have been reported in the nation, according to U.S. health officials. Raw jalapeno peppers and tomatoes have been cited as the cause of the outbreak. Health officials are also considered with and examining cilantro and Serrano peppers.
