Letters to the Students: Holland

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Dear UVU students,

Greetings! As we kick off a new academic year, I extend a welcome to each of you who have chosen to pursue higher education at Utah Valley University. This is a place of opportunity, and you are on the path to having a world of possibilities opened to you. If you are new to our campus, I hope you will take advantage of the many helpful people and resources we have to help you get acclimated. Our primary aim is to help you be successful.

Whether you are a new or returning student, you are helping to fuel the positive energy that permeates this wonderful campus. The signs of UVU’s continued growth and momentum are everywhere.  From the new, state-of-the-art Science Building to the construction of the new Student Life and Wellness Building and Parking Structure, it is evident that UVU is on the rise.

As you begin a new semester of classes, labs, research and projects, I urge you to commit to habits of diligent study and scholarly exploration. Research has shown that the more students are engaged with campus life, the more likely they are to reach their educational goals. I invite you to get to know your professors, engage in study groups, and attend academically and culturally enriching events.  In addition to the robust academic opportunities, UVU offers students a wealth of social activities to meet the needs of the whole individual.

I hope that, in UVU, you have found a home to achieve your postsecondary educational goals, whether it is completing a certificate, associate, bachelor or master-level program, from now until graduation.

I want to express my highest confidence in you, and I pledge my best efforts to make your experience this year enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding. Go Wolverines!

Matthew S. Holland
