Police and paramedics were dispatched to the Orem LDS Institute on Friday, Sept. 5 in response to a reported heart attack.

Full-time institute faculty member K. Douglas Bassett of Mona, Utah is reported to have collapsed in the institute library sometime around 1:30 p.m. Bassett was transported by ambulance to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. Bassett was said to have voiced complaints of not feeling well throughout Friday morning. Other institute students and faculty indicated that Bassett is known to have a heart condition and has suffered at least one previous heart attack. No update on Bassett’s condition was available at the time of this report.
