Wrestling since age five and now a devoted family man, Greg Williams is conditioning himself as a coach and his team as a success. He is our hero for the week. Here is what he had to say:

Q: What is your position at UVU?

A: My position is head wrestling coach, and I am beginning my third year in this position.

Q: What made you want to coach wrestling?

A: I have wrestled since I was five-years-old and have had success at each level. Wrestling is very demanding, so I always felt that I was being challenged. I wrestled at Utah State in the early ’80s and developed an even deeper passion for the sport and decided I wanted to coach. Since then, I have coached at all ages, levels and styles.

Q: What do you feel has been your greatest success while at UVU?

A: Bringing in some of the best Utah talent has been a great accomplishment here. We have a very close-knit team, and I am proud of them as a team and as individuals. Having a team that I respect and can motivate is a great accomplishment.

Q: Besides wrestling, what do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I love spending time with my wife, Kristin, and my two girls, Alexis and Taylor. Any hobby I share with them is fun.

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your family?

A: My wife was a middle school principal until I took this job and we moved from Kaysville. Alexis is in seventh grade and is an A student and loves dance. Taylor is in third grade and is also an A student and loves dance. They both dance at a great studio, The Dance Club, and they both play the piano.

Q: If there was one message you could get out to UVU students, faculty and staff, what would it be?

A: Get involved! This is a great school going through the best growth of its ever-changing history. This is absolutely the best time to go to school here. Get involved and enjoy the experience.
