Wolverines Drop Series Finale to Creighton

Omaha, Neb. – The Creighton Bluejays scored seven runs in the second inning to defeat Utah Valley University 11- 3 in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday afternoon.  Creighton won three of the four games in the series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

In the second inning, the Bluejays (9-7) would send to hitters to the plate and it included a bases-clearing double by Kevin Lamb that scored three runs and a triple from Reagan Fowler that drove in two more.  Fowler was 4-5 on the day.

Mark Krueger led the Wolverines (4-15) with two hits including a double that scored two runs as UVU tried to muster a comeback in the third inning.  The Bluejays responded by scoring two runs of their own with one coming in the third and another in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead.

Patrick Wolfe took the loss on the mound for UVU as he gave up six runs (5 earned) in just 1.1 innings of work.  Eric Olguin continues to impress on the mound for the Wolverines. The sophomore from Aurora, Colorado struck out two and didn’t give up a run out of the bullpen.

Rollie Lacy got the win for Creighton as he came out of the bullpen to pitch 1.2 innings without giving up a run while striking out three.

This series marks the end of the non-conference weekend series for UVU as they will open lay next weekend at Seattle University.  They also play a mid-week game against the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. MT.
