Student Health Services is holding a fun contest for students and employees alike to increase their total amount of steps taken each day. The contest, called Walktober, begins on Oct. 4 and goes through Oct. 31. The idea of the competition is to get everyone moving and exercising just a bit more than they were before. Participants will be given a pedometer to track their daily movements and will be required to log their steps in an online format. Those with the most steps through the month will be eligible for prizes, including a $75 gift card to the University Mall. Contestants will also be eligible for weekly drawings of rewards.
In order to join Walktober, those interested must register by Sept. 29. There will be a table set up in the Hall of Flags on Sept. 28 and 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration is $15 per person or $20 for two people. This price includes the pedometer and registration packet, which are yours to keep. This could be a great step to healthier living, as well as a fun competition, so grab some friends and start walking!
