The Springville Museum of Art will be accepting entries for this year’s Quilt Show July 9-11. The entries will be juried and accepted quilts will be on display at the museum July 17 to Sept. 2.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Museum alongside the Utah Valley Quilt Guild. Showcasing a wide variety of quilting techniques, the Quilt Show is sure to hang an interesting mix of traditional and modern quilts. Each piece requires technique and inspiration, is unique and tells a story. The quilts are art, not at all like the bedspreads found at super-stores. Each quilt is named and signed by the quilter.

On July 15 at 5 p.m., the Museum will host a Quilt Preview Party and Awards Show, open to all quilt entrants, Museum members, volunteers, sponsors, and Utah Valley Quilt Guild Members. Twenty awards will be given, including old standards like “Best of Show” and “Director’s Award,” as well as more specific awards like “Best Hand Quilting.”

According to the official entry form, quilts will be juried and awarded for “quality in workmanship, design, color, originality and general appeal.” Up to two quilts may be entered, and each must have been completed within the last three years. To enter or for more information visit smofa.org
